Google Wallet Update

Google-Wallet-Sign-In-screen-The-Tech-TempleMy last post regarding Google Wallet showed you what was all about, as shown in the video when I used it while at a local McDonald’s.  I did make one error in the post when referring to what cards you can use with the app.  You can indeed use any debit or credit card in your wallet and link it to the Google Pre-Paid card, transferring money from your card to the pre-paid card in $100 increments.  If you have a Citi Master Card you won’t have to worry about linking it to the pre-paid card and, instead, can use it in $100 increment or have a verification code sent to you so that the entire balance of your card is available to you.

The app was updated today and includes the following features:

  • Search for coupons within the app and add them to your card to be automatically applied during checkout
  • More details in the transaction history
  • Amount and name of merchant appear for purchases made using the Google Prepaid card
  • Turn your cards on and off more easily, with a button press to switch between the default card
  • PIN timeout set to 5 minutes for new users
  • More informative tutorial
  • Account number validation for some gift cards
