Jelly bean is the thing that many of us Android fans are waiting on. It’s only been officially released for one phone, the Galaxy Nexus, but as usual there are bits and pieces of it that you can place on your device to hold you over. For instance, if your device is already running ice cream sandwich then you already have the ability to install Google Now on your device right this very second. Late last week I came across another jellybean feature that you can install on your device today as well.
I tested out jelly bean on my Nexus S 4G a few days and I was loving it. Especially Google Now. The ability for a phone to know my location, know when I’m moving, map the destination back to my house, let me know if there’s more than the usual traffic taking my usual route and then offering an alternate route if there is traffic blows my mind. This was all done without me touching my phone! The second thing I noticed was how smooth and great looking the transitions are. They’re fast but slow enough that your eye takes to them as you switch through apps and other screens. It even works on devices running gingerbread, so try it out and let me know what you think of the transitions. I installed this onto my Nexus S 4G running ice cream sandwich (I’m rooted so I keep a backup) and it certainly makes it feel like I’m running jelly bean. Who says a jelly bean ice cream sandwich tasted bad?
